Rockingham Estate
Beverly Hills
At the Rockingham estate in Beverly Hills for longtime client Kurt Rappaport, Clint Nicholas took advantage of the multiplicity of spaces – a tennis pavilion, a private cinema, spa, many bedrooms and living spaces – to create a series of distinct destinations. So a dining room is rich and masculine with dark gray plaster and peacock feather-adorned wallpaper, while a child’s bedroom exudes enchantment with warm toned ochre carpeting and its decorative forest on the walls. Or guests can get cozy in a screening-come-games room layered with shearling, thick alpacas and mohairs and seating arranged low to the ground for maximum relaxation. A daring mix of furniture choices — including Royer, the Campana brothers and Rick Owens — add to the sophistication of this house, originally designed by Wallace Neff and later remodeled by architect Robert A.M. Stern, with styling fit for today.
